Courtyard of the castle.
View over Bled.
View over the lake.
Courtyard of the castle.
Boat on the lake.
In a boat.
Snowy mountains.
We slept well again at the Resort Belvedere.
Today we have the last excursion, to the
Lake Bled in Slovenia.
That is far away, and that is why we have to get up early, we are picked up at half past
seven.
At seven o'clock we are at the restaurant, we drink coffee and make sandwiches for on the
road.
The bus is on time, and we are the first passengers.
Three more groups are picked up.
The weather is better than yesterday, but it is still a bit rainy.
There is a long drive on the highway, and then at the border with Slovenia there is no
highway anymore but a narrow, winding, steep road.
At the border crossing there is no checking, we continue on the narrow road.
And then there is another highway where we stop for half an hour because of the driving
times of the driver.
In Bled we first go to the Bled Castle,
high on a mountain, but luckily the bus takes us a bit higher.
Access to the castle is part of the excursion, the last bit of steep path to get to the
entrance is also included.
The castle is well maintained, there is catering, a nice museum and beautiful views.
We get an hour to see everything.
Then the bus takes us back to the city of Bled where we have two hours to look around, eat,
drink, ....
We walk to the lake where there is a nice and good walking path and walk around the lake for
a while, on the way we eat the rest of the breakfast.
We walk back to the bus, but of course we walk the wrong way, but Bled is so small that you
can't really get lost.
Because we still have time left we stop at Gostilna
Pri Planincu where we drink wine and beer.
In Lake Bled there is an island with a chapel on it and we are going there now.
This is done with a kind of rowing boat where the rower with two oars stands on the back of
the boat.
When the bus leaves it appears that a few people are missing, but they are picked up on the
way, then another person is missing and they are going to look for him.
The person then misses the island.
On the island it turns out that the chapel can only be reached with a high staircase, and
Tom does not like that, Pia does go up.
We also go back with a rowing boat.
At the start of the return journey, the missed person is found and can take the bus.
The return journey is another long drive with a half-hour break for the driver.
When we are back at the hotel, where we have to check out at ten o'clock tomorrow, we ask
at the reception if we can check out one or two hours later.
But that is not possible, busy, many rooms have to be prepared for new guests, but we can
leave our luggage at the reception.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
